Your SodaStream cylinder is the heart of your sparkling water maker. It keeps the bubbles contained until you’re ready to release them into your water and powers cordless sparkling water maker models.
Get to know your CO2 cylinder and learn a few tips and to help you sparkle like a pro.
Since introducing the new aluminum cylinder to the market over 20 years ago, SodaStream has produced over 70M CO2 canisters for its consumers worldwide.
As a result of our diligent production, testing, and maintenance processes, we’re proud to report that not a single SodaStream cylinder has ever failed, earning recognition from the world’s leading regulatory and safety authorities.
Our stellar safety record comes from the fact that SodaStream is the only manufacturer of aluminum CO2 cylinders in the world that has 100% control of each cylinder throughout its lifetime.
We believe in treating every cylinder as if we’re taking it home to insert into our own sparkling water maker. That’s why never use third parties to manufacture, test, fill, or maintain your CO2 cylinders.
With every refill, empty gas cartridges come back to SodaStream’s state-of-the-art manufacturing plants where each one is inspected, tested, sterilized, and filled with fresh dietary-grade CO2.
Each canister is made from the highest-grade brass and aluminum to ensure durability and maximize safety. Designed specifically for your SodaStream, the cylinder valves fit your machines perfectly, helping your machine perform at its peak efficiency and minimizing CO2 loss during the carbonation process.
A single CO2 cylinder produces about 60 liters of sparkling water. We also like to think of it as preventing 60 1-liter single-use plastic bottles from ending up in our environment. Multiply that by millions of SodaStreamers worldwide and we have a movement – a real, tangible change in helping the environment simply by sparkling our water at home.
Cold water holds carbonation better. Bubbles love cold water! For best results, chill your filled bottles in the fridge before carbonating.
Always store your carbonating cylinder in a cool and dry environment, such as your pantry. Do not expose or store cylinders near a heat source. Every carbonating cylinder is fitted with a unique safety valve, which will safely release the gas in the unlikely event the pressure in the carbonating cylinder rises.
Re-carbonating your sparkling water. If your seltzer is not fizzy enough, you can re-carbonate as much as you’d like! However, we do not recommend carbonating after adding syrup as it can clog the spout and lower the efficiency of your machine. It might also damage your sparkling water maker and void the warranty.
Achieve the perfect amount of bubbles. One of the coolest things about your SodaStream is that you can choose your favorite level of carbonation every time you make sparkling water.
Know when you’re running low on gas. Run a few quick tests to find out if it’s time to order an exchange.
