What Happens After Your SodaStream CO₂ Order: Your Post-Purchase Guide
Whether you ordered a one-time exchange, a carbonation bundle, or you're subscribed for regular deliveries, returning the empties is key to keeping our exchange program running smoothly and sustainably.
Here’s how to make the process seamless and avoid any unnecessary charges.
Save the Box, Cylinder Cap and Return Label
As soon as your order arrives make sure to hold on to the box your cylinders came in, cylinder caps and USPS return label included with your order. You’ll need them to send back the empty cylinders.
Can’t find the label? Don’t worry, you can always download a new one from My Account. Visit this page for the step-by-step instructions.
Return Timelines: What You Need to Know
Your return window depends on the type of product purchased:
- Exchange: Return within 60 days
- Carbonation Bundle: Return within 90 days
- Subscription: Return within your subscription frequency + 30 day
For example, if you purchase a subscription with 3 cylinders and a 2 month frequency, you need to return 2 empty cylinders within 2 months + 30 days.
How to Return Your Empty Cylinders
Follow these 3 simple steps to return your cylinders:
- Pack the empty cylinders with the caps in the reusable box. Securely close the locking tabs and tape the box shut.
Note: Cylinders that contain any gas, partial or full, should not be returned via USPS - Contact us if you need help. - Attach the USPS return label and save the tracking number to easily track the return process (Pro tip: Snap a photo of the label!).
- Can't find your return label? You can download it easily from My Account, just follow the step by step guide.
- If you have an Old USPS label, please contact customer care for a new label on us. Don’t know how to tell? Your USPS return label should be ground advantage and have a big H in the top left corner. - Send the box by leaving it in your mailbox, scheduling a USPS pickup, or dropping it off at your local post office.
Track Your Return
Once we receive the returned cylinders, we’ll send you a confirmation email, and your return status will be updated to “Closed” in your account.
Return Reminders
- Save the cylinder cap for the return process.
- Return is only for empty cylinders - We do not accept cylinders that contain any gas, partial or full.
- Make sure to return the same number of cylinders as ordered.

What Happens If Cylinders Aren’t Returned?
If you don’t return your cylinders on time, or if you return fewer than you received, you’ll be charged $15.00 USD plus tax for each missing cylinder. This fee covers the cost of the cylinder and helps us maintain the quality and availability of our exchange program.
Want to keep the exchange cylinders as spare cylinders? no problem! The missing cylinder charge closes the price gap between exchange and spare and allows you to keep the cylinders.
